UNSCR 1325 - Open event at the Ledra Information Centre

Hands Across the Divide together with GAT (Gender Advisory Group) will organise an open event at the
Ledra Information Centre at 19:00 at which Martha Jean Baker – an attorney, activist and author -
will speak on UNSCR 1325 and its relevance to Cyprus.

Martha Jean Baker – an attorney, activist and author who is an active member of the European Women’s Lobby, was instrumental in putting together the position paper of the EWL on Security Council Resolution 1325 ‘Women Peace and Security’ and spoke on behalf of the EWL at the EU Parliament of 2010; is an active member of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF); coordinated and submitted a CEDAW “shadow report” and various government consultation submissions and was an invited participant at the Paris meeting with Palestinian and Israeli women in March 2007 (International Women’s Commission).

 

This activity is part of the project "UN Security Council Resolution 1325: An opportunity for Cypriot women to become actively aware of and engage in the peace building processes".
